Vijay and Ajith - Healthy Competition
Ajith's long time dream of getting the superstar title is not yet acheived. Now he is trying to compete with Rajinikanth. Already our Illaya Thalapathi Vijay is trying to grab the title. Competition is hot in the market now. We cinegoers have to hold our arse till next year to know the winner.

Asin's new strategy – only for Vijay movies
People make promises and decrees for different occasions and for different purposes. But our very own Asin has recently taken a resolution for a totally different cause. Before you jump to conclusions, let us spill the beans.
Asin has decided to be totally tight lipped when it comes to discussing her impending movies with Ilaya Thapalthy Vijay. She feels that media is too sharp in posing their questions craftily so as to obtain the entire story of the film from her. This is proving to be counter productive for the movie as such.
When the storyline and details of the movie are out in the press, there is no surprise factor or element in it. As long as the surprise feature is sustained in the movie, it is sure to kindle the necessary response from the audience thereby making the film a success.
Asin having realized the power of the media has decided to restrain herself from giving interviews. This resolution holds good only for the movies that she would be starring with Vijay. So what about other films and projects that she is committed to? Asin only should make things clear for us.

Win-win for Vijay: Onus on Prakash Raj
Telugu film Bommarillu was a super hit. When the hero of the movie Siddharth staged a special show of Bommarillu for Trisha and Vijay, the latter was very impressed.
He instantly showed interest to buy the rights of the movie as we all know Ilaya Thalapathy's interest for Telugu movies and sources almost confirmed that Vijay had bought the rights of the movie. But the deal did not come through for reasons unknown.
When the present trend of remakes being successful especially after `Something Something', things have started to look up especially in the case of Bommarillu.
Talks have revived once again. There was tough competition among the producers to remake this movie in Tamil. But the latest report says that the movie has been sold to Prakash Raj by the original Telugu producer `Dil' Raju. Why Prakash? One may ask. But the reason is crystal clear. Prakash featured in the original and it is only fair that he gets a chance to remake it. But Dil Raju is also the co-producer of this movie.
During the making of Sivakasi, Vijay had promised to star in a movie for Prakash Raj under the banner of Duet films. Now with Prakash Raj succeeding in buying the rights for the film and the interest that Vijay had shown in the film earlier and the promise that Vijay had made to Prakash Raj would very naturally result in Prakash roping in Vijay for the Tamil version of Bommarillu. Now the hunt for heroine who would match Genelia's (original heroine in Telugu version) charm will be on…

'Kaadhalil Vizhundhen' function
Nakulan, who looked like a sumo wrestler in 'Boys' has evolved into a well built super guy. He has transformed for his role in 'Kaadhalil Vizhundhen' produced by Atlantic Cinemas.
He worked out like crazy and lost about 25 kgs. We did not believe our eyes when we saw the invitation and were even more amazed when we saw the transformation in person.
The film was inaugurated yesterday at Vijaya Gardens. Minister Velu, minister Arcot Veerasamy, actors Vijay, Jayam Ravi, Bhagyaraj and others thought Nakulan looked like a Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee and this pleased him no end as could be seen by the smile on his face.
Director B V Prasad is to be commended for Nakulan's new appearance. He has assisted directors V Sekhar, Azhagamperumal and Vijay Milton. In 'Kaadhalil Vizhundhen,' he makes his debut as director.
The director is positive that the film's story and plot is novel and hitherto not seen in Indian films and this will make it surely something to watch out for. Nakulan's heroine is new face Sunaina. The technicians connected with the film are also well versed, like Vijay Antony for music and Vijay Milton on the camera.
The hero Nakulan is Devayani's younger brother. Wonder why she was not present at the pooja to wish her brother well.

Pokkiri name to be changed?
Meanwhile, unmindful of all the excitement that is hovering around the film, Vijay was said to be having a blast with the Mumbai import Mumaith Khan at the AVM studios for the shoot of the film. Both of them were shooting for a dance number in the film. Incidentally Mumaith Khan also waltzed in the Telugu version of Pokkiri and the audience just went crazy over her gyrations. Such was the frenzy that was generated by Mumaith in the Telugu film.
Needless to say, our Tamil audience wants to have an encore of the same here. When Telugu audience had the pleasure of enjoying the sleazy number of Mumaith, why should Tamilians be left behind? So that explains Mumaith's passionate dance number with Ilaya Thalapathy at the AVM.
Now it is left for the audience to decide if Mumaith would take over the place of `item number girl' in Kollywood or not.
'Bommarillu' remake rights sold!
It was love at first sight for Tamil actor Vijay. He had watched the film during a special screening that Siddharth held for his select friends in Chennai. Swargachitra Appachan, a reputed film maker in Malayalam, had bought the remake rights. The Tamil version is going to star Vijay in the lead.
You might remember Swargachitra Appachan from the 'Bangaram' fiasco. The producer had bought the remake rights of director Dharani's first Telugu film for an astronomical price only to discover 48 hours later that the film had crashed miserably at the box office.
Vijay had assured the producer that he would surely do a film for the producer. He is now starring in the Tamil version of 'Pokiri'. This one is for another producer, though.
The Tamil version of 'Bommarillu' will be his next film.
Vijay dances with Mumbai beauty – latest `Pokkiri' news!
In every film, Vijay does a kuthu song and the same applies for `Pokkiri' too.
Prabhudeva is still not taking chances with the Tamil version. He has made some changes to go with Vijay and the Tamil public. An important change is Mumayat Khan! It's not a male like Salman Khan or Shah Rukh Khan, but a female Khan.
She did a sizzling number with Mahesh Babu in the Telugu `Pokkiri' and set Andhra afire. Thanks to Prabhudeva's efforts, she will sizzle in the Tamil version too with Vijay. Vijay is well aware of the intricacies of a kuthu number and the Nadana Puyal has made him dance with the Mumbai glamour Puyal…!
The `Pokkiri' unit is convinced that this will be the song of 2007 that will have youngsters tapping and swinging to its beat.

Vijay's new pic after 'Pokkiri'!
25.08.2006
Vijay usually announces his next film when shooting for the current one. The habit missed during 'Aathi' is revived now with 'Pokkiri.'
'Bommarillu' featuring Siddarth, Genelia, Prakashraj and Sudeep is breaking records in Andhra. Directed by Bhaskar from Salem, the success of this film has everyone fighting for Tamil re-make rights.
In the competition between editor Mohan, AM Rathnam and K Bhagyaraj, the winner turns out to be Appachan. Even from 'Friends,' he gave Vijay advance and is waiting for his call sheet. Vijay consented to have him produce 'Puli,' but that film unfortunately got shelved.
Now it is reported that Vijay will be the star of the re-make of 'Bommarillu.' Vijay has been doing a string of action films and this film will show him in a different genre like 'Kaadhalukku Mariyadhai.' The reason is the story.
The hero is a young man who has an abundance of everything. His father decides what is good or bad for him. He chooses a girl for his son, who however falls in love with another girl. Now the guy faces many challenges to make the girl fall for him, to make his father accept their love, to make the girl's parents give their consent and finally to break the first betrothal.
These interesting knots have made the film a success. Prakashraj and Siddarth play father and son and Genelia is the girl Siddarth falls in love with.
Kollywood is convinced the Tamil version of 'Bommarillu' could well be Vijay's next film!
Inauguration of Sibi film 'Lee' - Vijay's wishes
He finally decided to produce the film himself. The title of the film is 'Lee' and Sibi's heroine is Nila. Prabhu Solomon, who gave a different dimension to Karan in 'Kokki,' will direct 'Lee.'
Even though it's his home production, Sathyaraj is sparing no expenses. The fact that every invitation for the inaugural function weighs a kilo, is proof of it. Sibi's new appearance is sure to bring a change in his fortune.
The inauguration took place at Chennai's Green Park Hotel in Vadapalani at 10am this morning. Actors Vijay, Surya, Jayam Ravi, Sivakumar, Karan, Bhagyaraj, actresses Khushboo, Aparna and others were present to convey their best wishes. Sathyaraj made every VIP go on the dais and wish.
“I know Sibi for many years. He is very smart in studies. I am confident that after 'Lee,' his acting talent also will receive many accolades,” said Surya.
As Vijay spoke, he glanced at the posters put up in the hall. “Sibi's expressions on the posters are good. He looks all set with a difference. I have seen director Solomon's 'Kokki' and know how talented he is. I am sure this will be a successful combination.”
When Sathyraj expressed his gratitude at the end, he spoke about the film. In one line, the film is about a football hero. He said Prakashraj plays an important role in the film and Ram Gopal Varma's regular villain Zakir makes his debut in Tamil films.
Happy Wedding Anniversary to Vijay and Sangeetha!!!
Long live the blessed couple!!!

Vijay at Hurricane Speed
Shooting for Vijay-Asin's Pokkiri going on at AVM Studio. Recently a song featuring Vijay and Mumait Khan by dance-master Srithar filmed. Mumait Khan who danced in the original version showed her talent in Tamil version too.
Since Prabhu Deva is also a dance-master, he makes Vijay to dance like "Puyal" (hurricane). People who comes to watch the shooting claps their hands watching Vijay's dance movements. Since Pokkiri can't be finished on Deepavali, it is surely going to come out for Pongal.

Vijay grabs `Bommarilu'!
In the biggest ever bidding war for the remake rights of that Telugusuperhit Bommarilu, has finally ended with our `Ilayathalapathy' Vijaygrabbing it for producer `Swargachitra' Appachan!
So the Bommarilu remake will be Vijay's next film after Pokiri. This brilliantly packaged love story by debutant director Bhaskar featuringSiddharth and Genelia is a huge hit worldwide. The music by Devi SriPrasad is also a chartbuster.
Every young hero in Kollywood was after Telugu producer `Dil' Raju topurchase the remake rights as nearly 20 screening of the film tookplace in Chennai. However, it was at a show held at the Four Frames Preview theatre by Siddharth for Trisha where Vijay, Vikram and Ravi Krishna first saw Bommarilu.
Vijay fell in love with the film and could not stop raving about itafter the show. He told Moviebuzz: "It is a cute film and thepresentation is brilliant. It's refreshing to see such feel-good films".
The buzz is that Bhaskar will be directing the Tamil version and itwill be a start-to-finish project. But who will plays the crucial roleof hero's strict father, played by Prakash Raj in the original? Itwill be hard to replace Genelia the innocent and live-wire Hasini ofBommarilu with a new girl in Tamil!

Mumait to sizzle with Vijay!
Mumait Khan, the Pakistani born Mumbai bred sexy item number girl isdoing a raunchy song with our `Ilayathalapathy' Vijay for Pokiri. This song is currently being shot by ace cameraman Neeraj Shah at AVM studio under tight security.
Mumait had shot to fame after that famous dance number "Dekh Le…"in Munnabhai MBBS. She was in also in news when, she went International after bagging an offer to be featured in the video with the Latin singing sensation Enrique Iglesias.
In Pokiri she is doing a sizzling number choreographed under the supervision of Prabhu Deva who is also the director of the film. The song is shot in a club set and Mumait will dance with Vijay, PrakashRaj and a host of Bollywood dancers. In fact Mumait had also sizzled with Mahesh Babu in the original Telugu version.

Pokkiri: Vijay shining with groovy costumes!!
Aug 18, 2006
Pokkiri, the next Vijay flick is making great headway and a lot of news. The director, Prabhu Deva and Vijay and the rest of the crew are sparring no efforts in making the movie a sure winner. The movie is said to be a typical formula movie with all the ingredients that will get all Vijay fans up on their feet whistling and applauding. The song and dance sequences are reportedly of a never before seen standard in Tamil cinema. Even the fight sequences are reportedly stunning.
Music by Mani Sharma is sure to rock and set the feet of the audience tapping. The movie certainly sounds very enjoyable and good enough to set theatres on fire and return Vijay o the top of the Star ladder. He had suffered from a bit of low in 2006 with the poor showing of Aadi. He looks all set to return with a bang. His trademark `Vaazhkkai oru Vattam' seems all set to come true in his case. The cycle of fortune seems to be turning for Vijay.
What is a Vijay movie without style? He is looking to provide style in loads with Pokkiri.
He, in the company of designer Nalini Sriram have come out with some groovy costumes. The movie will reportedly see Vijay appearing in two shirts in the same scene. One shirt over the other, that is. The scene certainly looks set for a royal performance from the Ilaiya Dalapathi. It's Pokkiri days in Kollywood.

Pokkiri: Very expensive!!
The initial reports on Pokkiri stated that it has been sold at near record prices in most parts of Tamil Nadu. This seems to have encouraged the producers and they have gone ahead and raised the bar for the rights in City NSC (Chennai city, North Arcot, South Arcot and Chenglepet). They have increased the rates of the movie so much that most of the distributors have backed out from buying the movie in the above said region.
The distributors seem to be wary of buying the movie after their pretty harsh experience with Aadhi. This has generated speculations that City NSC rights will be procured by none other than S.A.Chandrashekhar himself.
Now, will this pay off, literally or otherwise. We may have to wait till next year to find out

Bhavana in Vijay's next film?
Posted online: Friday, August 11, 2006 at 0000 hours IST
Young actor Bhavana, who has done some very notable films in Malayalam including the recently-released Chess, has reportedly decided to concentrate more on doing films in Tamil, where she has made a very impressive debut with Chiththiram Pesuthedi.
Her popularity in Tamil is on the rise and she has got some very interesting projects up her sleeve, opposite popular young actors like Bharath, Arya. Her forthcoming Tamil films include Naan Kadavul, Veyil and Deepavali. In Deepavali, to be produced by Linguswamy, she stars opposite Jayam Ravi.
Bhavana has reportedly bagged the female lead role in the next Vijay-starrer too. Maybe it's a wise decision on Bhavana's side, going by precedents. Meera Jasmine, Nayantara, Gopika- all have gained by concentrating on Tamil films.

Can top stars ever come together in Tamil - A REPORT!
In the corporate world, this happens quite often. Acquisitions and mergers that leverage the advantages of both the participants usually create a market leader. And, a behemoth of a corporation that results is a mighty advantage. The advantage is, the business strong points of the participants are both put together. The same logic, one would expect, will apply the film world.
The Precedents
Sometimes, in other parts of the world, the above phenomenon does happen. Robert De Niro and Al Pacino in The Heat; Tom Hanks and Matt Damon in Saving Private Ryan; Brad Pitt and George Clooney in Ocean’s 11 and Ocean’s 12 – the list is very long indeed. Some of these projects have gone on to become blockbusters. Closer home, Sharukh Khan and Amitabh Bachhan have starred in the latest sensation of Bollywood – Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. The business that this movie is expected to make, is supposedly a new record.
Tamil Industry
The Tamil movie industry, quite unlike the others, has shied away from such unions. In spite of having fantastic talent all around, the coming together of such talents is almost impossibility in Tamil. People might argue that budget is the biggest obstacle. The salaries of stars such as Amitabh Bachhan and Sharukh Khan, put together, is several times over the total budget of most Tamil movies.
However, one wonders, if that is the case, what about the actors who are not yet superstars? Even an actor who is one movie old wants to be ‘the’ hero. He gets offended even if the heroine of the movie is given importance. Srikanth apparently got upset when Sangeetha was prominently featured in Uyir promos. The issue got even more ugly when there were reports that many of the top heroes in Tamil threatened to not act with Trisha since she had ‘undermined’ their value by making an extravagant launch in ‘Something Something Unakkum Enakkum’.
Such silly issues often dominate the personality driven Tamil movie industry. It makes one wonder if there should be a mandatory course on business strategies to all actors. Maybe that will make them outgrow their ego and see the value proposition.
The Possibilities
A movie that features Rajini and Kamal, though a distant and impossible dream, directed by Manirathnam, will certainly make the world take notice. While that may involve budgetary issues, the smaller stars can certainly do this. Dhanush and Simbu for example, can act in a roller coaster commercial thriller directed by Dharani. Simbu and Dhanush, as the typical Madras pasangal, will make waves if they come together. The same can also be said about a romantic Ajith and an action packed Vijay being directed by the ever-commercial Shankar.
This would again set the box office on fire. Not just these – a realistic possibility would be the union of say, Kamal Hassan and Vijay or Rajinikanth and Vikram. The scope of the story is so wide – for example, gangster flicks like Goodfellas and Mythological flicks like Karnan could be remade with such union of Mega stars.
The recent success of Imsai Arasan should be a good sign to directors who want to deal with the subject. The story of Karnan is always heart-warming and offers ample scope for two mega stars. A Karnan in Kamal Hassan and an Arjunan in Vikram or Vijay will not just make waves in Tamil, it would make the global audiences take note.
When a director with of the quality of Kamal himself directs other stars, say, Surya and Dhanush in a story like Godfather or Goodfellas, we straight away have a movie that is world class. The same union could also be said of the actresses. Hopefully, Trisha and Asin, in meaty roles, could pair up to provide an adventure like Thelma & Louise. Let’s hope – because that is all that we can do.

Vishal throws party for Vijay, Trisha, Reema, …
Partying in the Page 3 circle is not news. Point in fact, parties are bare essentials for the celebrity crowd. The partying lot quite often burns the midnight oil to release the stress of the previous day's shoot or during the weekends.
Recently, Vishal threw such a party for his colleagues Vijay, Trisha, Reema, Srikanth and Director Dharani to celebrate the grand opening of `Thimiru'. Thimiru's preview was showcased in Four Frames and Vishal's close pals as mentioned above participated in the screening. Vijay and Vishal are close buddies since their Loyola College days, for your information.
Vijay applauded Vishal for his performance in Thimiru and after the screening of Thimiru, Vishal took his mates to a star hotel to set the dance floor on fire and partied all night. A birdie told us that the party went on till the wee hours of the morning.
Well well, the Tamil cinema circle is not alien to party fever, if you thought so.

Vijay in hospital – undergoes flash surgery!!
Pokkiri, Prabhudeva's Tamil debut venture (the movie was earlier directed by Prabhudeva in Telugu and was pronounced as a super hit) as a director starring Vijay – Asin in the lead suffered a setback here.Pokkiri's shooting was suspended here following the hero Vijay's ailment in his eye.
Vijay suffered severe pain his eyes during the flick's shoot and was immediately taken to a private hospital where he was later diagnosed to be having a cyst in his eyes. The doctors announced that Vijay is completely all right and the cyst was removed after a surgery and that he was advised to take bed rest.
Following this, the shoot of Pokkiri has been wrapped up and the shooting will commence after Vijay's return from his bed rest.
Sudden operation on Vijay!
The shooting of 'Pokkiri' has been suspended following a surgery on Vijay.
The shooting for the film commenced in as fast a fashion as director Prabhudeva's dance movements. Most of the shooting is to take place in Chennai. After nearly 6 months of rest after 'Aathi,' Vijay has started work with renewed vigor in 'Pokkiri.'
Because it is the Tamil remake of a Telugu film and is also action packed, it should have gotten ready for release soon. But Vijay requested for a Pongal release. As luck would have it, the shooting came to an unexpected halt as Vijay developed a boil in his eye and he could not shoot because of the pain. He was admitted to a private hospital and the boil removed.
Vijay is at present recuperating at home. As soon as he is better, 'Pokkiri' shooting will resume. Since the release is anyway only for Pongal, this small break will not affect the tempo of work.

Trisha takes it easy for not pairing with Vijay
Vijay latest movie `Pokkiri' has Asin in the lead as opposed to Vijay's hot favorite Trisha. Vijay – Trisha's on screen compatibility was substantiated with the success of movies like `Gilli' and `Tirupaachi'.
The latest `Aadhi' in the series did not manage to sustain the magic and though the movie did not fall flat, it did not create history at the box office.Rumours were abuzz that Trisha was approached first and she could not take up the offer owing to her prior commitments. We contacted Trisha with our curious self to enlighten ourselves and our netizens about her absence in `Pokkiri'. She shrugged her shoulders and was quick to explain that no one contacted her for the assignment. She did not seem to be bothered.
We wish the new pair a massive success. As you may well know Pokkiri is directed by Prabhu Deva, the director of the same hit movie in Telugu with Trisha in the lead.

It’s laughing time with Vijay ‘Pokkiri’
In the sets of upcoming ‘Pokkiri’ directed by Prabhu Deva, he is said to have let his hair down and is very cool. He is thoroughly enjoying himself. He plays the fool in the sets and Asin, the heroine of the movie is at the receiving end most of the time. This has even made director Prabhu Deva to make a note and he has changed the story line to accommodate these comedy scenes. Vijay’s teasing Asin and her reactions for the same have been included in the movie and of course with a few changes. This would definitely be worth watching for the viewers.
So, the lethal combination of comedy and action is sure to make the cash box jingling for the producer. Let us all wait and watch the Pokkiri Vijay on the silver screen soon.

Pokkiri’s vigourous progression with racy songs and punch dialogues!!
Prabhu Deva, who is now directing the hottest star in Tamil, Vijay, is all excited. Pokkiri, the Prabhu Deva directed Vijay starrer, has made the director very very excited. In fact, he is so sure that this movie has some of the best action sequences in the history on Indian cinema. The movie which was launched on July 6th, is expected to be another Vijay blockbuster – putting the actor well on his way to claim the position of the next superstar.
Vijay’s best effort
Recently, an action sequence of Pokkiri was shot. Complete with graphics technology and digital editing, it is said to be Vijay’s best effort so far. Prabhu Deva is very sure of the fact that the rising superstar’s fans will love this movie. They say FEFSI Vijayan, the stunt master has taken special interest in designing the stunt sequences and also adapting some latest techniques. Mukesh Tiwari, a stunt man from Bombay, has been especially flown in for this sequence. Vijay fans applaud and whistle gonna rock the theatres, they say. Producer Ramesh has helped the crew with his support.
Fantastic and fast paced songs
While this has been the headline grabber, another important factor in the brewing is the song sequences. Vijay is known for his fantastic and fast paced dancing. Prabhu Deva, being the director is also choreographing this movie. Do we even have to tell you how good this is going to be? The actor recently said that he would not even mind if his limbs fall off – that being the level of commitment, the rest can only be imagined.
Music Director Manisharama has come out with six different varieties of songs. He has promised to thrill Vijay fans with tunes that will bring out the best of the great dancer in Vijay.
Asin struggling to keep pace with Prabhudeva and Vijay
The romantic scenes need a mischievous and naughty Asin and so Vijay is often teasing her in the sets they say. Asin has also been working very hard to keep pace with the movements of Prabhu Deva and Vijay in the dance department. Her on-screen chemistry with Vijay is fantastic and this is sure to set the Tamil screen on fire.
The movie itself, which is a remake of Mahesh Babus’ Telugu blockbuster in the same name, is an action-adventure and an emotional roller coaster.
Vijay who excels in such a genre will be directed by Prabhu Deva for the first time. Admitting that it was a huge responsibility when directing an actor of Vijay’s repute, he said he hoped to come up with an end product that would satisfy the fans of the actor.

No one can deny that next to Rajini’s movies, Vijay’s movies are doing brisk business. On the day of the launch itself the movie has been sold at a record price of 18 crores. Vijay’s fans, who are spread across the state and across A, B and C centers, are one of the most influential groups in Tamil cinema today. The actor’s meteoric rise in the recent years, which has been aided by his choice of roles and all round acting and dancing skills, has also meant huge expectations from his fans.
This expectation could mean some pressure to deliver – for both the director and the actor himself. Prabhu Deva, who is directing in Tamil for the first time, however was cautiously optimistic that this would fully meet the expectations of die hard Vijay fans and go on to become one of the all time big blockbusters in Tamil cinema’s history.
Vijay’s punch
Will there be a Vijay movie without punch dialogues? This action pack ed thriller is expected to be loaded with full punch dialogues of Vijay genre. The main punch line in this movie is the same one in Telugu – “Once I decide, even I can’t change my decision”.
With expectations running sky high and the cast and crew working so hard, we wish Pokkiri all success.
