Glam Nayan in 'Villu'

Cinesouth.com
- 18.07.2008

The shooting for 'Villu' starring Vijay and Nayan is going on at a brisk pace.

Nayantara danced with Vijay to a song sequence in Sivakasi. This is her first film opposite Vijay. Earlier, Nayan was to have acted as Vijay's heroine in 'Kuruvi' but Trisha had her way and grabbed the role.
Vijay
'Villu' shooting is happening at Pollachi and Pazhani. Nayantara has a homely role in this. That is one reason for signing her on.

After seeing the stills of Nayantara in 'Kuselan' and 'Sathyam,' the 'Villu' crew went into a panic. Nayan dripped of glamour, even to the extent of donning a two piece. So, won't her fans feel betrayed if she was not shown even in a glimpse of her glamorous best?

The 'Villu' team set about transforming Nayan from homely to glamorous. One important scene is to take place at Kerala's Adirampalli Falls where a wet Nayan shall let people's imaginations run haywire.

'Villu' is sure to be a jillu film for sure!

The film has some awesome action scenes which are very crucial to the story. After completing the Chennai schedule, the unit has now left for Pollachi to shoot a song for the film.

According to sources in the industry, Prabhu Deva wants to shoot the ultimate Kuthu song for the film. Remember some of the most popular Kuthu numbers in Tamil cinema have featured our Ilayathalapathy. One of the major highlights of Vijay- Prabhu Deva's earlier Pokkiri was the songs and its picturisation. Who can forget the chartbusting kuthu number Mambazham ma...?

Similarly in Villu, music director Devi Sri Prasad is said to have composed a mass kuthu number which will be picturised on Vijay and Nayanthara in Pollachi this week. The song, it is believed, is sure to make the fans of the star happy.

Vijay and Nayathara for a Kuthu Song in Pollacchi

July 9th, 2008

Remember! There are two things that wont go parallel, Vijay and his fast step dance. No one can deny the fact that he is the real king of dance in Kollywood. Prabhu Deva who churned out his best choreography with Vijay for their previous venture ‘Pokkiri’ is working on the same tempo for Villu.

Shooting for the film is progressing with at a full speed where important scenes were shot at the busy roads of Chennai during night time of last week. Now the entire team has fleeted to Pollacchi to shoot a fast beat Kuthu song featuring Vijay and Nayanthara together. Vijay’s “experimental” dance with Nayan

Behindwoods.com
June 28, 2008

Vijay’s Villu is shaping up very well with a good number of scenes being canned in Palani and Karaikudi. Director Prabhu Deva also has plans to shoot the song sequences in Italy apart from a few scenes. Fans are aware that Prabhu Deva has had a penchant for songs and dance even when he was an actor himself.
Villu

Most of the films in which he played the hero had some great songs with unmatched dance performances. He stuck to this trend even after donning the director’s mantle. In Villu, Prabhu Deva intends to film an “experimental” dance with Vijay and Nayanthara. This “experimental” dance will also be filmed in Italy.

Vijay's Italian rendezvous

IndiaGlitz
[Thursday, June 26, 2008]

'Ilaya Thalapathy' Vijay is busy shooting for ‘Villu’. The movie, directed by Prabhudeva and produced by Ayngaran Films International, kicked off in Karaikudi recently.

A number of scenes featuring Vijay and Nayantara were shot in Karaikudi. And now the buzz is that the crew would shoot a major portion of the film in Italy. The script involves a foreign country in the second half and so the crew will be heading for Italy this July.

 Vijay Gallery

Sources close to Prabhu Deva reveal that he has also planned to shoot two song sequences in exotic Italy.

It sure would be interesting to see Vijay chasing and hunting down the baddies in this European country. Nayantara sizzled with her attitude and attractive modern costumes in ‘Billa’ and the movie was set in Malaysia. So, foreign destinations suit her big time and with Nayantara on song now, one can expect Prabhu Deva to exploit her talents.

Vijay and Nayantara on the prowl in Italy….sounds interesting.

Ravivarman on Villu

K.V. Anand became an overnight celebrity after Sivaji, and this time it is the Dasavatharam cameraman’s turn, Ravi Varman. His directorial debut, with its intriguing title, Moscowin Cauvery, will soon grace theatres. Meanwhile, he’s (quite rightly) basking in the technical triumph and glory of Kamal’s dazzling epic. Behindwoods got him talking on what working with the actor meant to him, and many other things on his mind, such as how fascinating a Vijay-Prabu Deva combo could be.
**********************
Your association with Prabhu Deva?

I’m a huge fan of Prabhu Deva and think his dance movements are graceful and amusing to all part of the audiences. I missed working for Pokkiri and it is my pleasure to be with him in his new venture. Vijay again is somebody I adore. He is a formulaic actor like MGR. It is an interesting combo.

Is Vijay aiming right with 'Villu'?

IndiaGlitz
[Saturday, June 21, 2008]

Touted as the next superstar of Tamil cinema, Vijay is reportedly keen on getting everything right with ‘Villu’. An average showing with ‘Azhagiya Tamil Magan’ and ‘Kuruvi’ has not helped Vijay's journey to the numero uno position for the future. Despite being on the top amongst young heroes, the actor has to come up with a string of successes to consolidate his position.

 Villu Gallery

Vijay's magnetic appeal in the B and C centers has seen to it that even his average movies somehow scrape through at the box office. But this is a trend that might not continue for long especially with the influx of talented young filmmakers experimenting new styles of storytelling in Tamil cinema. These innovative approaches have been recognized and appreciated by audiences. The surge of quality filmmaking is bound to tighten the noose around run-of-the-mill stories.

After the stupendous success of 'Pokkiri', the remake of a Telugu film by the same name, Vijay has teamed up with Prabhu Deva once again, to reproduce the success. Sources say ‘Villu’ is expected to have the usual dose of fights, dance, sentiment-filled sequences and loads of dialogues that 'glorify' Vijay. These are facets that are loved by the 'typical' Vijay fan. No matter how well these elements reach out, the story and narration hold the key to the long run. This is where Prabhu Deva and Vijay have to be extra careful.

There is a talk doing the rounds as to what the story of ‘Villu’ is going to be like. It goes like this….

A group of baddies kill an honest, hardworking man. The man's wife and son are somehow spared. The son (Vijay) grows up under the impression that his father had perished in an accident. But then, as the story goes, Vijay learns of the malicious plot that got his father murdered. An angry Vijay hatches a plan to bring the murderers to justice and in the process falls in love with the daughter of a baddie, played by Nayantara. Inevitably it is justice and love ahead of Dad and so she toes the lines of Vijay's plans dutifully only to succeed.

Even a die hard Vijay fan would be hoping against hope that this is just a rumor and the actual story is in fact a new gripping tale. If this rumor turns out to be true, one gets the feeling Vijay will have to get back to square one, rethink his strategies and start all over again in order to get things right.

Only time will tell us the truth. So, let's hold our horses and wait for the story to unfold. Keep an eye on IndiaGlitz for updates.

The Villu to make it!

Publicity stills for the Vijay-starrer “Villu” is out. And fans can’t stop raving about their favourite hero. Shot by model-model coordinator-fashion photographer Karthik, the stills smack of style.

“I’m used to glamour photography. But this is the first time I’m doing publicity stills for a film. I was overwhelmed during the one-day shoot at AVM Studios. I was surrounded by big names in the industry. Prabhudeva, the film’s director, has a keen eye for detail.

Actor Vijay is so cool off-screen. But once the arc lights are switched on, he’s fire — focussed and intense. Nalini Sriram was the stylist. I was looking for some expressions, and Vijay came up with a dozen. The shoot went off well. It was a dream come true,” gushes Karthik, who flits between Chennai-Bangalore and Bangkok.

Vijay's Villu in trouble

By Behindwoods News Bureau.
June 07, 2008

Shooting of Moscowin Kaveri, an upcoming film being produced by Aascar Ravichandran and directed by cinematographer Ravi Varman is almost complete. This film has newcomers Rahul Ravindran and Yashoda in the lead roles. A complaint has been lodged by its producer Ravichandran against director Ravi Varman at the producer's council.

When the matter was probed, it was revealed that Ravi Varman has been chosen as the cinematographer for Vijay's new film Villu and he has already started working in the same. This seems to have irked Aascar who stated that Ravi Varman, before completing dubbing and other post production work in Moscowin Kaveri, has shifted base to Villu.

When the matter was brought to producer's council, Ravi Varman explained, "Only a day of shooting is pending in Moscowin Kaveri which I plan to complete after the first schedule of Villu which will go on for 2 weeks". Kollywood circles aver that in the event of Producer's council insisting that Ravi Varman should complete Moscowin Kaveri and then only move to Villu, the latter film may run in to some trouble.
