Although busy with the backbreaking schedules of Kuruvi, Vijay has recently signed on the dotted line for AVM Balasubramanian’s next production venture making no bones about his next flick, after Kuruvi and another Prabhu Deva directorial venture, that is. This new assignment is likely to hit the floors only by the end of this year.
Inside sources reveal that Vijay is bowled over after watching the Hari directed Vel for its right mix of commercial elements. Last heard, the actor has also insisted AVM to get Hari’s dates for his venture with them. Vijay and AVM: who is the director?
IndiaGlitz
[Wednesday, January 23, 2008]
Everyone knows that Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay has signed up with AVM for a movie that is to be produced later this year. But it is not AVM Saravanan, who will produce the movie under the prestigious banner AVM.
His brother AVM Balasubramanyam will produce the Vijay’s movie under the banner of AVM Production and Entertainment.
Now Vijay fans are eager to know who would direct the movie. Vijay is yet to make up his mind in this regard. He has already heard stories from Hari and Perarasu and yet to finalize the director.
Meanwhile Balasubramanyam and Vijay’s father S.A. Chandrashekar saw Perarasu’s recent movie ‘Pazhani’. It is said that both liked the movie and appreciated the director.
So shall we conclude that it would be Perarasu, who would direct Vijay for the third time? It might be a safe bet to go with Perarasu, who had given two hits in Thiruppachi and Sivakasi featuring Vijay.
Keep watching IndiaGlitz to get updated on the project.

Its an open secret that Vijay is an ardent fan of Superstar Rajinikanth and he often tries to follow the footsteps of the legend.[ Saturday, January 19, 2008 ]
He is not ashamed to use the same techniques used by the superstar and more often than not his strategy has paid off well.
Keeping in line with his established practice, Vijay has now used an helicopter extensively to shoot several sequences in his film Kuruvi just as the superstar used the chopper effectively for his movie Sivaji.
Sources say an entire song in Kuruvi has been shot using the helicopter to make an impression on the viewers.

A pat on the back!
IndiaGlitz
[Thursday, January 17, 2008]
The overall atmosphere of Tamil film world is fast becoming healthier these days. We can see a lot of creative experiments being tried and more professionalism being brought in with the arrival of corporate companies. In addition to these developments, there is a welcome change in the attitude of the stars. They move with more friendliness and seek to make it a healthy competition rather than a bitter one.
We can site the example of leading stars like Vijay, Suriya, and Madhavan viewing ‘Billa’ and appreciating Ajith’s performance. The so-called and much hyped cold war between Ajith and Vijay is nowhere in sight.
Now Vijay has appreciated the efforts of younger actors Bharath and Silambarasan for their respective performances in their latest films that came out on Pongal day. Vijay is said to have hugged Silambarasan to complement him for his acting in ‘Kaalai’. He has also praised Bharath for his “amazing performance in the fighting sequences” in ‘Pazhani’.
Bharath is on cloud nine, as he has been “appreciated by his role model”. He has decided to continue to act in action movies. He also has plans to team up with director Perarasu again.

Kuruvi on a Chopper
By Behindwoods News Bureau.
January 14, 2008
You have heard of planes crashing due to bird hit, but this time it's about a bird in a chopper. This one is for Vijay's film Kuruvi. Incidentally, this film's shooting was on in Malaysia for a long time and the crew had only recently returned to Chennai. A stunt scene was picturised with Vijay taking on few men who belong to the African mafia in a huge bar-cum-disco set erected for this purpose.
Kuruvi's crew is following another trend that was started off again by Rajini's Sivaji, where the superstar uses a chopper to travel to a village and even in the climax. Chopper was also used to shoot a tsunami sequence in Kamal Haasan's Dasavatharam. Aerial shots using choppers are not new to Tamil cinema, just that it is now being used for more relevant scenes than only a few shots in a song. In Kuruvi, the director has used a chopper to shoot an entire song sequence to give it a feel of grandeur. Directors are now willing to go any lengths to experiment even in the technical department.

Vijay’s kindness

No other star has ever done such a noble thing. Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay has allotted a house located in Saligramam exclusively for his employees like driver and make up man. They live in the house for free of cost without paying any rent.
This is the house where Vijay used to meet his fans earlier. Now he is meeting his fans in his two marriage halls, which are located in the same area. After shifting the meeting spot, he renovated the house and divided it as separate houses and allotted them to his employees.
A driver, who is no more an employee of Vijay, is still staying in the same building. Vijay hasn’t asked him to vacate the place after he left his job.
Hats off to Vijay for his kind gesture towards his workers.

Five most challenging movies to remake in 2008
Ajith and Vijay in Agni Nakshatram
This is a big one. One that will make everyone jump out of their seats!
Eighteen years back, Prabhu as Gautham and Karthik as Ashok set the screen on fire with their histrionics. Die hard Tamil Cinema fans and lunatic thinkers that we are at Behindwoods, we would give our left hands if the sparks can be rekindled again with two of the biggest Superstars of recent times, Ajith and Vijay.
Ajith as Gautham and Vijay as Ashok would set the cash registers ringing, only if the original is remade by the Master, Mani Ratnam himself. Music has to be A.R.Rahman. Did someone else cross your mind?
Vijay and Maddy in Naan Sigappu Manidan
Naan Sigappu Manidan directed by S.A. Chandrasekhar with superstar Rajini in the lead, rewrote box office history for its fast paced screenplay and the ensemble star cast. If you might recollect, Bhagyaraj graced the movie with a cameo role.
We concur that Vijay would fit into Rajini's part perfectly.
We confer Bhagyaraj's role on Madhavan and suggest the role to be a bit serious sans the comic element the original one had. Director's cap? We give it to Murugadoss.
