Vijay films are all formula mass masala entertainers with the hero being in a larger-than-life role- punch line dialogues, action, sentiments, introductory song, item number and duets shot in exotic foreign locations. Sivakasi is also an action-packed entertainer releasing for Diwali, produced by A M Ratnam of Sri Surya Movies This time Vijay is paired with Asin the hottest heroine of Tamil cinema and Prakash Raj plays the bad man once again. If it was sister sentiments that worked in Tirupachi, it is mother's sentiments that will appeal to the masses in Sivakasi. Geeta, the yesteryear heroine plays Vijay's mother. Vijay plays an electric welder from Sivakasi who comes to Chennai city and he lives in Ranganthan Street, T Nagar. Asin plays Hema,a college student who falls in love with Sivakasi. Nayantara does an item number as she plays herself. G K is the art director and Srikanth Deva scores the music for the movie. Says Vijay: "I trust director Perarasu who gave me a super hit with Tirupachi. He brims with confidence and the film has shaped well and will be a blast for my fans this Diwali".
