Vijay & Nayan to endorse Chennai Super Kings

Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Nayanthara have been signed up to be the brand ambassadors for the Indian Premier League’s Chennai team, Chennai Super Kings, run by India Cements Limited. The team has the logo of a roaring lion and and their tagline goes: Fearless entertainers who will play to win.

Vijay and Nayanthara two of the most popular actors in Kollywood, will add glamour to IPL's Twenty: 20 matches. Both of them will endorse Chennai Super Kings, appear on hoardings and in television ads, and will turn up at the matches (played in Chennai, Mohali, Kolkata and Mumbai) to cheer for Dhoni and his team.

Both the stars are riding a wave and are extremely popular in south India. India Cements Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, TNCA President and BCCI Treasurer N Srinivasan, the franchisee owner of Chennai Super Kings has pulled off a coup by getting two of the hottest stars in south to endorse for them.

The market buzz is that Vijay and Nayanthara who have never endorsed before (though Vijay has featured in a Coke commercial before he became a superstar) have been paid a bomb to endorse for Chennai Super Kings.

Chennai: India Cements, which has bought the rights for the Chennai team of the Indian Premier League (IPL), plans to operate on a revenue model involving advertisements on players' helmets, sponsorship for T-shirts, gate collections, and revenue sharing agreements with BCCI and television rights holder Sony.

The company on Tuesday announced that it has signed up Tamil actors Vijay and Nayanthara as brand ambassadors for the team - Chennai Super Kings.

India Cements executive president T S Raghupathy and former cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth were present on the occasion.

Vijay and Nayanthara will endorse Chennai Super Kings, appear on hoardings and IPL television ads, and also turn up at all team matches to cheer captain M S Dhoni and his team. The first match is likely to be held on April 23 in Chennai followed by one each in Mohali, Kolkata and Mumbai. Chennai Super Kings' logo is that of a roaring lion with the tagline: Fearless entertainers who will play to win.

Chennai, March 18 (IANS) Chennai Super Kings Tuesday announced Tamil film industry superstars Vijay and Nayanthara as their brand ambassadors. Speaking at a glittering function organised to kick-start Indian Premier League (IPL) Chennai team’s marketing blitz here, Vijay referred to his “love and passion for cricket” as the key factors behind his involvement with the side.


“I am an ardent cricket fan for a long time. Of late, I have been following Indian cricket more closely than ever before. Like millions of others, I am a great admirer of Mahendra Singh Dhoni who will be captaining the Chennai Super Kings,” he said.


Vijay vowed that he would be part of every promotional activity of the team and will attend the first home game at Chepauk here on April 23.


“My exact responsibilities are still being worked out, but whatever be the case, I will be part of each and every promotional activity and also try to attend all Chennai Super Kings’ home games, especially the opener on April 23,” he said.


Nayanthara, however, did not attend the function.

Vijay and Nayan to cheer Dhoni’s men

It would not be an exaggerated statement to say that Indians are passionate about two Cs- Cricket and Cinema. They are almost like two religions which unite the people across the length and breath of the nation and cricket, especially, brings out the patriotic flavor from people. Hence it is only the right move on the part of the organizers to have chosen.

Vijay and Nayanthara as the star ambassadors of the Chennai Super Kings, the India Cements owned Indian Premier League.

Vijay was formally introduced at a function organized in Chennai on Tuesday which was attended by ace cricketer and former Indian captain K.Srikkanth along with other dignitaries. While speaking at the event Vijay said, “I have always been interested in cricket and follow the game closely. My interest is doubled now especially with my son taking a keen interest in the game”. Further on Vijay said that as he is a resident of Chennai all along and his friends, family members being avid cricket fans, he would like to cheer and support the city’s cricket team. He was also very proud that Dhoni is leading Chennai team and is confidant about his leadership skills which is sure to steer the team to victory.

Nayanthara was not present at the function as she was busy shooting elsewhere.
