Vijay's Deepavali celebrations
If anyone had visited Sivakasi yesterday, they would have wondered why Deepavali was being celebrated a week in advance! With firework displays and strings of decoration, our 'Sivakasi' hero made it a celebratory spectacle. Those who have labeled him as a 'mouna saamiyar' or a loner, would have seen a different Vijay yesterday.
Even as his flight landed in Madurai at 8.20am, the firework display could be seen in the skies. Swimming his way through the throng of fans with his father S A Chandrasekhar, he first went to Thirumangalam. He gifted 2 sewing machines and then proceeded to Virudhunagar. He had tea at a fan's stall and gave Rs.2000 as Deepavali gift. After being welcomed by traditional greeting like 'parivattam' and 'aarathi' much to his delight, he made a surprise visit to Vinayaka and Sony Fireworks factories and enquired about the process of making fireworks. The only thing the girls there wanted was to touch Vijay!
The people who were given most importance were the hearing impaired and disabled students of CSI School. Vijay was very happy to see the Annamalai Unnamalai Nagaratchi Palli playground in Sivakasi. Like he did in 'Gilli,' he played kabbadi there for a while.During the entertainment, he went on stage and played the thappattam to the delight of everyone.
To sum up, Vijay started the Deepavali celebrations from yesterday itself at Sivakasi. What's all this in aid of?"Because the title of my film is 'Sivakasi,' I wanted to celebrate Deepavali in Sivakasi," was the cool explanation by Ilaya Dalapathi.

Vijay's tops ' fellow actors praise
That's praise indeed from the competition.
Surya who made his debut in Vijay's film 'Nerukku Ner' also acted with Vijay in another hit film 'Friends.' Surya has come a long way since then, changing his getup and is fast making a big name for himself. He looks at Vijay in wonder.
'It is quite difficult to deliver hot films, without much change in the getup. Look at Vijay's dance. One will never tire of seeing the style and the steps,' said Surya with genuine respect.? Another thing that never fails to maze Surya, are the fight scenes in Vijay's films.
Similarly, Vikram says, 'I admire him from afar.' It is to be noted that Vikram and Vijay are good friends.
Among Tamil film heroes, Madhavan stands out by being different. He's not afraid to call a spade a spade. He's allergic to dance! 'Unlike Ajith, Vijay, Vikram and SDurya, nobody expects much from me in Tamilnadu. At the same time, if I could shake a leg like Vijay, I can cause quite a stir!'
Like the fans, fellow actors also find Vijay's dance attractive. Though Vijay is greatly admired today for his dance prowess, in the early days of his career, he was made fun of for his lack of dancing ability. Taking up the challenge and undergoing rigorous training, he's now the uncrowned king of dance.
Hard work never goes to waste. Vijay is a supreme example of that.

Rajni praises Vijay !
The 200th day function of Vijay's Ghilli was celebrated in a great style at the Taj Connemera in Chennai on Wednesday evening. And the surprise guest at the function turned out to be none other than the real superstar,Rajnikanth.
Rajni said that he wanted initially to speak only at the 100th day function of Chandramukhi, but was tempted to speak after seeing the team work associated with Ghilli.
Said Rajnikanth "When Chandramukhi clashed with Sachein, everyone was talking about fireworks between the two stars. But Vijay was humble enough to say that he was my fan and was never a competitor. If Vijay is my fan I am his admirer".
Rajini also praised Vijay's ability to do comedy and made it clear that "the success of a film largely depends on its story and if the subject is good, then the film is a sure winner".
He also praised director Dharani for choosing the right subject as he added: "Ghilli is nothing more than the story of Ramayana told in a different manner that worked".
All the artists of Ghilli like -Vijay, Trisha, Prakash Raj, director Dharani, music director Vidyasagar and producer A.M Rathnam were present. The guest list included Vikram, S.J Suryah, Arun Pandian, Asin, Nila, directors Bhagyaraj and S.A Chandrasekar.
