Vijay ready for politcal plunge

Rumors are doing the rounds in Kollywood that Vijay is getting ready to launch himself into politics.

The actor's plans to undertake a fast on Sunday along with members of his fans' association at Chepauk on Chennai is seen as his maiden attempt to foray into politics.

It may be recalled that he launched a flag for his fans association. Also a recent survey by Loyola College concluded that he enjoys more popularity than Rajinikanth in Tamilnadu.

Amidst such a scenario, his move to hold a fast for Lankan Tamils obviously throws out a lot of speculations. The fast would be inaugurated by his father and acclaimed director S A Chandrasekhar. Prominent film personalities are expected to take part in the Fast.

Fans of Vijay hope that their favorite hero would give hints on his entry to politics at the Fast protest. They say it is a show of their strength for a common cause.

It may be recalled that Rajnikanth had recently turned down the request of his fans to

Yesteryear heroine Ranjitha, introduced by director Bharathiraja in 'Nadodi Thendral', plays Vijay's mother in 'Villu'.

It may be recalled that yesteryear heroine Geetha played Vijay's mother in 'Sivakasi' and Simran did the same for Surya in 'Varanam Ayiram'.

Now it is Ranjitha's turn to take up a senior role. The actress, who had been part of several films in the early 1990's, ventured onto the small screen after her marriage. Now she is back to play Vijay's mother in the silver screen.

'Villu' directed by Prabhudeva, features Vijay in dual roles and Nayanthara plays his ladylove.

Fans protest – Vijay gets emotional!

November 17, 2008

As announced earlier, the one-day fast organized by Vijay Fans Association to protest the killing of innocent Tamils in Sri Lanka in the ongoing civil war between the Sri Lankan government and the LTTE, was held yesterday, November 16, 2008 in Chennai and all over Tamil Nadu. The hunger fast, held in 37 places in all of Tamil Nadu,

witnessed a turn around of 5000 fans in Chennai alone. Apart from the fans, leaders from some political parties also showed their support and visited the location in Chennai, near Chepauk Stadium.

The fast started at 8.00 a.m. with the initiation ceremony performed by Vijay's father S.A. Chandrasekhar. While addressing the gathering, he mentioned that it was an attempt to show solidarity towards the genocide in Sri Lanka and that people from all sections of the society were participating in the fast to support the cause.

Vijay joined the gathering later on and sat through the day. An emotional Vijay noted that he had no words to express gratitude to his fans for organizing the fast. The fast ended at 4.00 p.m. with Vijay's mother, Shoba Chandrasekhar, distributing juice. Apart from Vijay's family, including his wife Sangeetha, director Perarasu and actor Mansoor Ali Khan were also seen on the stage.

Ilayathalapathy Vijay's Unnavrutham!

Ilayathalapathy Vijay's Unnavrutham!

By Moviebuzz | Sunday, 16 November , 2008, 12:32

Ilayathalapathy Vijay started his Unnavrutham (fast) to protest against the violence against Tamils in Sri Lanka today (Nov 16) morning in front of the Chepauk government guest house in Chennai.

From early morning, a huge contingent of Vijay fans converged at the venue in mini buses, autos, SUV's and two wheelers with party blue and white flag flying high. The star came in his new silver Nissan X-5, at around 10am.

As he tried to get on the stage the huge crowd erupted and was overjoyed to see their hero. The police had a tough time in controlling the crowds. A young crazy fan rushed from the crowd and made it to the stage and kissed Vijay on the cheeks before he was pushed out by the star's security men.

In Pics: Vijay at the Unnavritham, his different moods

Vijay's father S.A Chandrasekhar is the master of ceremonies. He had tough time controlling the crowds and at the same time seeing to it that the speakers did not say anything inflammatory.

When actor Mansoor Ali Khan said about Sri Lankan President Rajapakse and how he comes to India to get arms, SAC tactfully led him off the stage. As SAC remarked: "Please note this is not a Unnavrutham conducted by any political party, but a protest against the inhuman treatment of Tamils in Sri Lanka. We want the government to hear the voice of the youth, the lakhs of Vijay fans."

Later Vijay himself sitting on the stage in an informal chat with sify.com said: "I'm doing this on the request of my fans. My heart, like my fans, bleed for the Sri Lankan Tamils trapped in a war thrust on them. I want this war stopped, so that all Tamil people can live in peace."

Vijay and Ajith are great friends!

This news will elate the fans of two Kollywood icons – Ajith and Vijay. Though their fans often compare them and treat them as competitors, Ajith and Vijay have proved often that they are very close friends and have rubbished the talks about competition between them. At film functions, they both are often seen sharing jokes and engaged in serious discussions, and this has become a common sight these days. They have great mutual respect and even take care that
they do not hurt each others' fans!

Recently, in one such display of care for Vijay's fans, Ajith changed the name of Aegan's villain. In Aegan, actor Suman (who re-emerged in Kollywood with Sivaji) plays the villain and his onscreen name is Joseph Chinnappa. When Ajith came to know about this, he requested director Raju Sundaram to change the character's name. When he found a perplexed look on Raju's face, he explained that his friend and actor Vijay's full name is Joseph Vijay and that he does not want to
hurt or irate his fans by naming his film's villain after him – no matter even if it is a lesser-known first name of Ilayathalapathy. In a similar fashion, Vijay too painstakingly looks for any factor, which could irate Ajith fans, and eliminates it from his films! Phew!

Well, these stars are so cordial to each other that they do not treat each other as rivals even on the silver screen! Then why do we fans try to compare them, create an imaginary rivalry between them, and then lament that Kollywood has lesser "double-hero" films than
Bollywood. Maybe, it is us – the highly sensitive fans – who are the reason for frontline Kollywood heroes not acting together!

Vijay - "Villu is shaping up well"

Dear Behindwoods Team,

I am an ardent visitor of BW. I personally feel anything published on your site will reach millions of hearts. Recently IlayaThalapathy Vijay came to Tuticorin for shooting of his movie Villu. He was put up in Satya Resorts and no banners were kept in order to reduce the crowd during shooting time.
Vijay Fan

But still a huge crowd came to watch Vijay, and shooting didn't take place for 2 days. A chase scene was planned to take in Tiruchendur Bye-pass road and a song sequence in Manapaadu, a seashore area. I took much pains to meet Vijay, but I couldn't meet him.

On a fine day morning when we went to Satya resorts, we saw Vijay walking out of his room as usual in his casual looking wear. The gardeners who were working there felt happy on seeing him. He smiled, waved hands and wished them. You could see the smiling faces of those gardeners in the photo also. And when we went near him, the time was almost 9 and it was late for shooting. But yet he took 2 photos with us patiently and said "Villu is shaping up so good. Do watch it with family", and as usual bid us good bye with his trade mark smile.

While taking the photo, I was just standing at a distance, but Vijay came close and put his hands over my shoulder- just like my close pal and took it. No words to describe his humbleness.

I'll keep on updating the shoot from Pearl city.

Regards,
S.Siby

'Villu' - Shaping up fast

Shooting for the Vijay starrer 'Villu' is reportedly going on at a brisk pace. Directed by Prabhu Deva, the movie features Nayantara as the heroine.

The crew is currently in Tuticorin shooting some important sequences that include action scenes. Touted to be an action flick shot in a stylish manner by Prabhu Deva, the movie is produced in a grand manner by Ayngaran International and is expected for a release during Pongal.

Buzz is that the songs have been shot in a catchy manner by Prabhu Deva as he did in his earlier venture 'Pokkiri' with Vijay.

'Vijay fans can expect a thorough entertainer loaded with action and other commercial elements, said Prabhu Deva recently.

'Villu' is Vijay's 48th film and his next 'Vettaikkaran' is expected to go to the floors very soon.

Vijay's bodyguard!

Vijay seems to be nearing 50 (movies) and how. Before his 48th flick Villu's shoots are over, plans are shaping up for his 50th film. As reported by us earlier, the movie would be produced by S.A. Chandrasekhar for Vijay's home banner and directed by the Malayalam director Siddique.

As per the latest buzz, the movie will be the remake of the Dilip starrer Malayalam flick Bodyguard. Known for his comedy movies, Siddique also seems to have obtained Vijay's consent about Bodyguard. The movie's script, however, would undergo regionalization techniques
to be in tune with the interests of the actor's fan base. Siddique's association with Vijay is nothing new as he has already directed the actor for the hit movie Friends.

Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s 50th film details

After completing work on his 48th film 'Villu', Vijay will start the shoot of his 49th film 'Vettaikaran' some time in December for producer AVM Balasubramaniam.

Meanwhile, Vijay is planning to make his golden jubilee film for his home production under the guidance of his father S.A Chandrasekhar. The buzz is that the film will be directed by Malayalam director Siddique, who had earlier done Friends with him.

Siddique is a master story teller and is good at family entertainers. Siddique had earlier narrated the one line story to Vijay and his dad who immediately gave the green signal to the project.

Sources close to Siddique told sify.com- "The same subject will be tried out in Malayalam by the director first and then he will do the remake in Tamil making the necessary nativity changes."

As of now Siddique will make it as Bodyguard in Malayalam with Dileep and likely Bhavana as heroine. The shoot of the film which will be produced by Johnny Sagariga will begin in March 2009, and will be Dileep's July 4 release. Vijay's 50th film is slated for Pongal 2010.

Will Bodyguard remake be Vijay’s 50th film?

This is the most popular rumour circulating in Kollywood – Vijay's 50th film will be a remake of the Malayalam hit film Bodyguard which starred Dileep. It is heard that Bodyguard figured in the discussions between Vijay and Siddique! But it is too early to confirm anything in this
matter.

But as reported earlier, S.A. Chandrasekaran will produce Vijay's 50th film and famous Malayalam film director Siddique will direct it. This is not the first time that Siddique will direct Vijay – their combination rocked in the super hit Friends. Siddique and Vijay have a good sense of humour and love to do comedy subjects. But it is heard that Vijay prefers his 50th film to be the right mix of action and comedy, in line with his new image.

At present, Vijay is busy with Villu, directed by Prabhu Deva, a remake of the famous Bollywood blockbuster Soldier (Preity Zinta and Bobby Deol).

Vijay fans' protest on November 16

The whole of Kollywood protested the ongoing civil war in Sri Lanka and its effect on Sri Lankan Tamils. Now it is the turn of the fans! On November 16th, Vijay’s fans will assemble at Chepauk and fast until dusk as a mark of protest against the Lankan civil war.

This was decided at a special meeting held recently; immediately a petition was submitted to Commissioner Sekar seeking permission to hold a protest, who sanctioned it after the fans promised him they will maintain law and order during the protest. Now, preparations are underway to hold a peaceful protest in Chepauk on November 16. This decision has been taken by Vijay’s fan club members and not by Vijay.

It may be recalled that during the Nadigar Sangam protest on November 1st, Vijay had requested his fans to send telegrams to the Prime Minister requesting him (PM) to stop the Lankan civil war. Then in the protest held by FEFSI, he thanked his fans for responding by sending thousands of telegrams per day and also requested them to send even more telegtams.

The entire film industry has been surprised at this move by Vijay's fans.
