Tamil film actors came together today to protest against the atrocities meted out to Sri Lankan Tamils as a result of the ethnic war that is raging in the island nation. The protest was in the form of a fast organized by the Nadigar Sangam headed by actor – politician Sarath Kumar.
The complete who's who (actors) of the Tamil film industry was present. Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vijayakanth, Ajith, Vijay, Vikram, Suriya, Vadivelu, Vivek, Vishal, Bharath, Prasanna, S J Suryah, Karan, Karthi, Nayanthara, Trisha, Sneha, Ramya Krishnan, Thol Thirumavalavan, S A Chandrasekhar, S. Ve. Shekher, Abirami Ramanathan, 'Jayam' Ravi, Vignesh among others.
The Nadigar Sangam had very clearly asked its members not to indulge in emotional rhetoric as cases of sedition may be filed against them.
The Nadigar Sangam's fast comes as a comprehensive show of support to the displaced and suffering Tamil masses in the Island nation of Sri Lanka who have been bombed and slaughtered in a gory fashion in recent times.
