Directors who washed their hands off Ilaya Dalapathi

"Life is a circle. The defeated will win, the winner will be defeated,"is a dialogue that Vijay spoke in one of his films. The second half seems to be coming true in Ilaya Dalapathi's case.

The blow 'Aathi' gave made Vijay sit up. He sent a message through hisfather to directors like Dharani and A R Murugadoss, but they remained unshaken. There has been talk of Vijay being the next superstar, so what is the reason for these directors to remain unmoved? On doing a little snooping, here's what we found out.

When 'Thirupachi' and 'Sivakasi' became hits, Vijay went around telling the world that director Perarasu was the commercial king of Tamil cinema. This angered Dharani. "Does that mean 'Gilli' was not a good commercial film? So I'm not a good director of commercial cinema?" he said wrathfully.To add insult to injury, every time they met at public functions,Vijay's father always told Dharani that he kept Dharani in mind fortheir next venture. At this time 'Aathi' was released and crashed at the box office.

Very badly in need of a hit, SAC has sent messages across toDharani but received no great response. So Vijay himself telephoned Dharani and said they should meet. Dharani once again gave the slip that he was busy and their meeting would have to take place later. Since nothing happened on the phone, Vijay went straight away to Hyderabad and spoke to Dharani on the sets of'Bangaram.'

There is no clear outcome of the meeting if Dharani would consider teaming up with Vijay.When Dharani did not give a commitment, Vijay telephoned A R Murugadoss.Since theatre owners have shown a red card to Vijay's films, Murugadoss gave the slip saying he would discuss later. Following this, SA Chandrasekharan has spoken to Selvaraghavan. It is said he also excused himself because he was making an English film.

Since 3 directors have washed their hands off him, Vijay can now depend only on director Perarasu to bail him out.
