Mega event on Pokkiri Audio release

The much-awaited Pokkiri, which is slated for an early 2007 release is being wrapped up save for a couple of songs. As reported by us earlier, the crew took off to Australia with the barest minimum of its crewmembers including Vijay and Asin to film the songs down under.

News has it that Pokkiri's audio is being planned to be launched in a star-studded event attended by the lead heroes of Tamil cinema.

When production companies prefer to conduct audio release events with no grandiose parties fearing the cost factor, Pokkiri seems to prefer to be a cut above others. On the other hand, audio releases are considered to be inevitable for the publicity of the movie.

Expectations are already riding high for the audio tracks of Pokkiri with Mani Sharma scoring music.

Vijay: Fans feel its a way of showing their love to me. I feel happy and they felt happy too. I never asked them to put cut-outs' at all the place that I go. Its a recognition that they gave me. I have told them many time to not take risk for it, health is more important, dont get trouble themselves. I didnt ask them to put cutouts but when they are happy doing it, why should stop them.

Dear Ilayathalapthy, you have acted in many films and earned lots of money. Who taking in-charge your household finance? How much you knew about that? I need honest reply.

Vijay: When it comes to house, its my wife for sure. Geetha the one who manage all monetary issues. When I need money for my personal expenditure, I'll ask my house's finance minister my wife. I really dont have any pocket money at all, my pocket always empty. Other than that, when comes to office things or property releted matters, my dad will be taking care of it. I'm very silent in that matter.

What's the reason behind your success? Is it your acting talent? Your parents? or your directors who directed you in your films?

Vijay: Lots of movies, not one or two. Can make a big list on it. There lots my favorite movie in the list such as Murathukaalai, Ulagam Sutrum Vaaliban, Billa, Naadhodi Mannan, etc.

Dear Ilayathalapathy Vijay Anna, I'll see all your movies. Now a days, your acting in action movies only. Whats the reason? Why dont you act in art films? Isn't the art fimls only can bring out your real acting talent into screen?

Vijay: In art films, I cant even see me by myself. I only can see myself interesting in dancing, action roles. I try to bring out my acting talents into the action or mass movies that i'm acting. So, no chance for me to do art film.

Vijay: I like very much all the National leaders. The freedom that we are enjoying now, is because of them. We all happy now because of them, I like very much our leader especially Nethaji. So Mr.Seenivasan, if I get that kind of chance I'll act in the role of Nethaji.

When hero's doing double action role, they only showing small differentiation. Aren't this disappointing fans?

Vijay: Its all depend on the story. In "Navarathri" movie Shivaji done nine roles, he shown lots of differences in each roles. That story requires lots of differences. In some stories, two characters shaped to have sameness, so, they must act in same way for both roles. If not, it will affect the story. Its depends on the story only. There is nothing to disappoint fans, anna.

Surya used to say that when he saw his ealier films, he didn't like them at all, but only Nanda bring him turning-point. How do you feel when you watch you ealier films? Which movie gave you full satisfaction?

Vijay: When I watch my last year movies, I feel that I should have done more well. So, I never felt full satisfaction when I saw my ealier movies. Films that has been my turning-point to me are Rasigan, then Poove Unnakaga, Kathalukku Mariyathai.

Vijay: I felt that, I want to do something in my life, want to achieve, I cannot go on like this. My dad in this field, I love acting. Thats why I came to acting.

Vijay: I have on Shivaji sir, Kamal, and Vikram. Shivaji is lagend; I feel amazed until now, when I watch Kamal's Aboorva Raagangal. He acted as cretin even in those days where we dont have any techonological advancement. Vikram's acting in Kasi is excellent. I even asked myself whether I can act like that or not.

How much marks you'll give it to your acting?

Vijay: We dont purposely look for there (telugu), It just happen coincidentally. All the movie that I act last year Thirupachi, Sachien, Sivakasi all were direct tamil movies. The year ealier only I acted in Ghilli. Marurey is also a direct Tamil movie. After some time only I'm doing Pokkiri. That all.

Vijay: You can see me as romentic hero again in Pokkiri. It have every thing. You can see as action hero, in comedy role. In addition you can see me as romentic hero as well, Satya.

Acting is your carrier but when you in sad mood, you require to perform energetic dance sequence or you need to perform a happy scene. How do you overcome, when you cannot show your real feelings and needs to hide it for acting?

Vijay: The situations thats your telling, happens sometime. Sometime, I was in mood-out, but when the shoot was ready and stand in-front of camera, the sadness, mood-out all just disappear. Its very rare for mid get disturb while in acting. Its even more hard to sit alone without doing any work when we in sad mood. So, its better to work!

Dear actor Vijay, what would be you advise to me who are in low self-confidence?

Vijay: Low self-confidence is something that we impose on ourself. Its enough if we confidence and brave enough. Then we can face everything bravely. Why should we feel less confidence about ourself. Pokiri team off to Australia

Down Under has emerged as one of the important and attractive spots for shooting Tamil films. Australia and New Zealand, with their sprawling locations and picture perfect scenic spots, are just the right backdrop for the songs. In fact, Nala Damayanthi was set in Australia itself. Among others, Shankar, Susi Ganesan, Hari, Sundar C and Dharani have shot in Australia and New Zealand. Now the Pokiri team is off to Australia to shoot a couple of songs there. The film stars Vijay and Asin in the leads. This Prabhu Deva directed film is a remake of a Telugu flick of the same name. The songs are being choreographed by Raju Sundaram. Prabhu Deva has not accompanied the unit. Cameraman Nirav Shah has also joined the team. The stay is going to be only for a few days. The team will be back in the city on December 17. Pokkiri team leaves for Australia just for Asin’s sake

Shoots of Pokkiri have been progressing in top gear in and around Chennai city. Now, news has it that the movie is as good as finished except for a few dance numbers. To can a couple of these songs in breathtaking locales in Australia – to abide by the tacit policy of Tamil cinema – the crew has embarked on a flight from Chennai Airport last evening.

Since Asin had a small mishap at the sets of Pokkiri, it is difficult to shoot a dance sequence indoors as close-up shots would reveal Asin writhing in pain. Hence the crew has planned to shoot dance scenes in Australia where long shots can be combined with picturesque greenery of the country side wherein facial expressions can be done away with.

Besides Asin, the crew included Vijay, dance master Raju Sundaram, and cinematographer Nirav Shah. Surprisingly, the unit did not comprise of Prabhudeva the director of Pokkiri. The ace dancer seemed to have entrusted the responsibility to his big bro Raju Sundaram. The crew's homecoming is expected on December 17 th after the completion of the shoots.

Pokkiri has raised high expectations among Vijay fans and the audio release of the movie is slated in the near future. Mani Sharma scores music for Pokkiri.

Namitha & Shreya in an indirect brawl for Vijay

Generally, in a film with two heroines, it is only natural that one has a heavier portion with respect to the other. This again depends on the market value and the image of the actor in question. Heroines by and large would be aware of this before signing on the dotted line. Of course, established heroines would never agree to feature in a twin heroine subject or at the most would ensure that they get a heavier role when compared to the other one.

In this context, an interesting scenario has emerged relating to Vijay's upcoming Azagiya Tamizh Magan. Though Shreya is the heroine of the film, the other lady Namitha is said to be staking claims for heroine-ship for this film. It is not known if Namitha was given to
understand in this manner.

Vijay jealous of Kamal

"I am jealous of Kamal's histrionics in acting", Ilaya Thalapathy had remarked during an interview. It is a known fact in Kollywood that Vijay has a lot of appreciation and reverence for his senior artists. When quizzed about his favourite actors, he spontaneously said that Sivaji, Kamal and Vikram are his all time favourites.

Though he has developed his own style in acting, he still feels inadequate in front of these veterans. At a time when technology has not made many inroads into Kollywood, Kamal had flabbergasted the audience donning the role of a dwarf in Aboorva Sagodarargal. Till
date, people are still guessing about how he had made a convincing appearance as a dwarf in the movie.

In the same vein, Vikram's soul stirring performance in Kasi has really appealed to Vijay. In the

AR Rehman for Appachan film!!!

Swargachitra Appachan had to wait for more than 2 years to see his film with Vijay begin. But the two years' waiting time has helped a lot in loosening his purse.

The reputed producer is going out of his way to make the film lavish.

Tamil film industry has two new generation superstars- actor Vijay and music composer AR Rehman. These days, Rehman is busy with music composition of Rajinikanth' s megabudget film 'Shivaji'.

Most filmmakers in Tamil hesitate to bring AR Rehman into their films because there are constant rumors that the music director is very expensive and takes a lot of time to complete his assignments.

But that hasn't deterred Swargachitra Appachan from signing him up for his new film, 'Azagiya Tamiz Magan'.

This is the first time that Rehman is going to compose for Vijay. Director Dharani's main associate, Bharatan is going to direct this film.

'Shivaji'-fame Shreya is going to be the heroine. She has managed to get clearance from the makers of 'Shivaji' to star in this film. Rumors are on that she was paid heftily for the offer.

Let's hope that Appachan recovers all these big investments when the film gets released.

Asin injured!

Asin, the heart throb of Tamil cinema created a minor injury scare when a nail pierced through her heel. It happened while she was shooting for Prabhu Deva directed Pokiri on Wednesday (6th Dec) evening at AVM studio.

Asin and Vijay were completing the last bit of a fast folk number (a Kuthu patu), which had heavy steps. Dinesh Master, the choreographer under the supervision of Prabhu Deva was shooting the song for the last six days.

Asin and Vijay along with 50 dancers were doing this fast number, when the incident took place. Asin was dancing barefoot when a small nail on the sets pierced her heel. As she cried out in pain, all unit members rushed to her and shooting was stopped.

Asin was given first aid immediately. Vijay and Prabhu Deva were willing to give her some time, so that she can take rest. But Asin the professional that she is, refused to stop the shoot and 10 minutes later was back on the sets doing the difficult steps with ease and smile on her face.

After the pack-up, on the advice of her mother Dr Celine, Asin went to a hospital near by and took a Tetanus injection. From there she went straight to the dubbing studio and completed her dubbing work for Aalwar. Well, Asin is truly what we call the complete professional!

Perarasu hopes for a film with Vijay

Known for his racy screenplays, Perarasu made a sound start to his career with Thirupachi and followed it with Sivakasi. The director, who pens the lyrics besides playing a brief role in his movies, has expressed his desire to direct Vijay again. Having rendered two hits with Vijay in Sivakasi and Thirupachi, Perarasu says that they share a good rapport. Speaking about his films, Perarasu says, "They have all been entertaining. Is Azhagiya Tamil magan a remake?

This season seems to be the season of remakes and remixes. On the positive side of this emerging trend, the film maker is able to bring in the latest style of narration to an old idea. But if this is overdone, is sure to give the movie goers a feeling that the industry is totally stripped of ideas. Bollywood can boast itself to have pioneered this idea in Indian film industry with so many remakes doing the round like Sholay, Don etc.

Now this fever seems to have gripped our Kollywood too. It has been widely reported in the media that the Rajni block buster of yester years "Billa" is going to be made again with Ajith in the lead role.

In the same vein, the upcoming Vijay’s Azhagiya Tamil magan is alleged to be a remake of Rajni starrer Murattu Kalai which had Rathi and Sumalatha as the leading ladies. Only time will say if these rumors going around in the industry are true.

Will Pokiri release for Pongal?

Starring Vijay and Asin, the movie Pokiri went to floors a few months ago. Initially slated for a release this Pongal, Pokiri has music by Manisharma and is produced by Kanakarathna Movies. The latest buzz doing rounds is that the movie may not grace the theatres on Pongal day. The movie is still to be completed. The works are, however, happening in full swing. The other major Pongal releases include director Ameer's Paruthi Veeran starring Suriya's sibling Karthi and Priyamani, Ajith and Asin starrer Aalwar, Vijaya T Rajendhar's Veerasamy and 'Captain' Vijayakanth' s Sabari.

Sangeetha Vijay's accolades to her mother-in-law

No one could cast a doubt about Shobha Chandrasekhar' s singing talent. For the trained carnatic singer she is, she has rendered her sugary voice to numerous hit songs – particularly for her son Vijay's movies. Few hits in the recent past and to be precise, the recent hit from Sivakasi `Kodambakkam Area' substantiate her singing prowess. To top that, she has even released `Anaimughanum Arumughanum' – a devotional album.

In line with the same, she has recently sung for Nenjirukkum Varai, which is directed by S.A. Chandrasekhar. The song, which she has sung for the movie, is catching up among the public and most importantly has grabbed the attention of Sangeetha, Shobha's daughter-in- law.

Sangeetha has reportedly heard the song numerous times and seems could not get the song out of her head. She went on to shower praises for the song and her mother-in-law' s voice which was the highlight. Well is there any award more coveted than the ones that come from within the family? We assume no.

Stalin's son Udayanidhi wants to make use of Vijay's mass appeal and has decided to produce his next film! There have been talks for nearly a year about this film, but nothing materialized.

Moreover, Vijay had his other film commitments and the last one includes Appachan's 'Azhagiya Thamizh Magan.'

So, Udayanidhi's film could well be Vijay's next project. The director could be Dharani, who gave Vijay a turning point in his career with 'Gilli.'

After 'Bangaram' flopped, Dharani has been creating a script with meticulous precision and guarding it closely. This could be the script for Vijay's film to be produced by Udayanidhi!

Battle royal for Pongal

Battle lines are drawn for Pongal. It would be a cracker of contest on the festive day when the movies featuring Ajith, Vijay, Vijayakanth and Jeyam Ravi are expected to make it to the theatres. According to reports, Vijay's Pokiri directed by Prabhu Deva is tipped for a Pongal release. A remake of the Telugu hit Pokiri, expectations are high on the movie. Ajith's Aalwar would be released on the same day. The producer nursed a desire of releasing it in early December. But now it seems he has opted for a release in January, 2007 itself since Ajith's Varalaru is still drawing good crowds. The shooting of Jeyam Ravi's Deepavali is happening with full zing. Directed by Ezhil and produced by director Lingusamy, the movie has Jeyam Ravi and Bhavana in prominent roles. It is expected to release this January. The latest to join the race is Vijayakanth. His Sabari, directed by Suresh and produced by Salem Chandrasekhar, is releasing on Pongal day. Vikram's Bheema might also make it for Pongal.

`Vasantha Mullai' song recreated for Pokkiri

The trend of remixing old hit songs – apart from cribbing the plot from old movies – is catching up in Kollywood. Manmadan's `ennasai maidiliye' set an example in this genre and many movies followed suit. In line with the trend, Vijay starrer Pokkiri, which is being directed by Prabhu Deva will have the classic oldie song `Vasantha Mullai' from the movie Sarangadara – seasoned to suit the present generation.

Pokkiri will have the first stanza of Vasantha Mullai blended into another song. However, Vijay stated that the song has not been remixed and would appear as it was in the movie – but limited to two lines. The shoots of the song have been carried out recently in Chennai in areas such as film city and racecourse.

Though Prabhu Deva is renowned for his dancing talents, seems like he will not render choreography for Pokkiri. He will limit himself to direction and the task of choreography has been distributed among various dance masters. Vijay, Asin, and Sriman were seen dancing to the steps of Dinesh for the Vasantha Mullai song. Mani Sharma scores music for Pokkiri.
