`Pokiri` creates problems for Vijay!

Mahesh Babu’s and his Telugu film Pokiri is creating a new box-office record in Chennai. But one person who is unhappy about it is our ‘Ilayathalapathy’ Vijay who is remaking the film in Tamil. Remember that producer Ramesh has brought the remake rights of Pokiri for Vijay, which will be directed by Prabhu Deva and the film is scheduled to start on June 22 in Chennai.

Mahesh Babu is currently the number one hero in Tollywood and he has a huge fan base among ladies and youth in Chennai as he had his early education here. The film has netted nearly Rs 40 Lakhs from Jayaprada theatre in Chennai in 35 days, truly amazing!

Ramesh had brought the Pokiri rights from its Telugu producers on May 3 and since then Vijay has been trying his level best to stop the screening of the film in Chennai. But Jayaprada theatre who has the distribution rights of the film in Tamilnadu refused, saying that they had paid Rs 15 Lakhs for the rights!

Usually, when a Telugu remake is brought by a Tamil producer, the screening of the original is stopped. Remember that Dharani’s Bangaram did not open in Chennai for the simple reason that Vijay was remaking the film, after producer Swargachitra Appachan brought the remake rights from A.M.Ratnam.

But in the case of Pokiri, the Telugu producers had already sold the theatrical rights of Tamilnadu before release and the remake rights was purchased by Ramesh only after the film was released and declared a hit. Meanwhile Mahesh Babu fans in Chennai are also refusing to stop the screening of the film as they say that the film has to celebrate 100 days, a rare feat for a Telugu film in Chennai!

Meanwhile Ramesh and Vijay are worried that more and more people are watching Pokiri including Vijay fans. Now they are paranoid that there will be no surprises for them when the Tamil remake hits the screens.
