Kuruvi still flying high

Red Giant Movies Kuruvi is still flying high and has completed 150 days since release. To mark the occasion and acknowledge the contribution of the cast, crew, distributors and exhibitors, the production held a vetrivizha at the Park Sheraton Hotel.

The hall was packed and to add to the glitzy feel was the presence of top personalities of the Tamil film firmament.

Director K Balachander was the chief guest and Producer’s Council President, Rama Narayanan was the guest of honour.

Producer Udayanidhi and director Dharini welcomed guests warmly.

Tinseltown was well represented by SA Chandrasekar, RB Chowdary, KS Ravikumar, Vijay, Sangeetha, Suriya, Trisha, Ramya Krishnan, Sibiraj along with his mother and wife, Revathi, Vivek and Murugan, Lollu Sabha Jeeva and Narain amongst others.

It was a special day for the cast and crew as they went on stage to receive mementoes after which distributors and exhibitors were called upon to be felicitated by Vijay, Dharini and Udayanidhi.

Director K Balachander was all praise for Vijay and reiterated that he was indeed the next ‘Superstar in waiting’.The veteran heaped praise on each leading member of the cast for their performances.

The mood was indeed jubilant in the Kuruvi camp and the grand party captured the prevailing mood of the team

The guests at Kuruvi's 150th Day celebrations were in for a shock when ace director K. Balachander suggested that VCD and DVDs must be legalized. According to him, VCD and DVD rights could be sold legally so that it would bring the issue to an end. The director rued that the
stringent laws curbing piracy have had no results.

Balachander disclosed that his health conditions did not allow him to see Kuruvi in theatres and he opted for a DVD instead. On a lighter note he added that the print was on par with the original. Balachander, along with the President of the Producers' Council, Rama Narayanan,
handed over the mementos to the actors, director and technicians of Kuruvi.
