Vijay's 'Pokkiri' has put Malayalam superstar Mohanlal's film in the shade.

For Pongal, 'Pokkiri' got released at Thiruvananthapuram in 2 theatres. Malayalis and Tamilinas flocked to theatres. With the release of 'Pokkiri,' the one week returns from the Thiruvananthapuram theatres amounted to Rs.14, 10,000. But Mohanlal's new film 'Baba Kalyani' brought in only Rs.13, 60,000. By raking in Rs.50, 000 more than 'Baba Kalyani,' Vijay's 'Pokkiri' has put Mohanlal's film in the shade.

In Ernakulam's Shenoy thaetre, 'Pokkiri' has made Rs.10 lakhs. No film has made such a big collection there till now.

Mollywood is stunned by the success of 'Pokkiri.' The distributors in Kerala are sticking to their decision to release Tamil films only 2 to 3 weeks after their release in Tamilnadu. This decision has found favor among the Malayalam stars too.

'Pokkiri' has put them all in a spot!
