Some time back Kamal got it. Then it was Sathyaraj. Now it is Vijay's turn. A university in Chennai has decided to confer the doctorate title on Vijay.

The Dr. M.G.R Educational and Research Institute in Maduravoyil has been conferring doctorates on persons of merit every year. This year, 3 people have been selected. Two are from the film field. One is actor Vijay and the other is director Shankar.

The University announced that the doctorate is being given to Vijay for his hard work and achieving so much at this young age, and for his immense contribution to the cause of the underprivileged through social welfare activities with support from his fans.

Shankar gets the doctorate for making films comparable to Hollywood.

The doctorates will be conferred on Aug 27 at the University. At this rate, there will be more doctors than artistes in Kodambakkam!
