TIRUCHI: Keeping up with the custom of carrying out social welfare activities on special occasions, the members of Tiruchi District Vijay Fans’ Association took up similar initiatives on Sunday, as part of the 16th annual day celebrations of the association.

The fans donated wheel chairs, wheel stretchers and mats to Tiruchi K. A. P. Viswanatham Government Medical College Hospital. Distribution of other welfare assistance, including free saris to the needy and uniforms to poor students, were also a part of the celebrations.

“Vijay always wanted his fans to be socially responsible and lend a helping hand to the poor. Over the years we have been doing our bit,” says association president R.K. Raja.

Similar functions were organised by the members of Thottiyam and Tiruverambur union Vijay fans’ associations.
